The City of Logan Charitable Trust has awarded a $5,000 grant to Open Haven, a local charity that provides life changing support to women and children recovering from domestic and family violence. This funding will directly contribute to the salaries of Open Haven’s dedicated case workers – whose impact reaches far beyond paperwork and referrals.
Case workers at Open Haven are the cornerstone of recovery for hundreds of women each year. They offer more than just guidance. They provide tailored, holistic support plans that address every aspect of a survivor’s journey, including safety, housing, health, employment, and emotional wellbeing. Their work restores confidence, independence, and dignity to women who have faced unimaginable hardship.
These case workers also play a vital role in helping survivors access critical financial support. In the past year alone, Open Haven helped secure approximately $600,000 in Victim Assist and Escaping Violence Payments for women in Logan. These funds are essential for rebuilding lives to cover costs like rent, medical care, and basic necessities that allow survivors to move forward with stability and hope.
By funding Open Haven, the City of Logan Charitable Trust is investing in the wellbeing of the entire community. Supporting survivors of domestic violence not only changes individual lives; it strengthens families, neighbourhoods, and the social fabric of Logan itself. When women are empowered to rebuild, they become active, resilient contributors to the city’s future.
This $5,000 grant is more than a financial contribution, it’s a statement of belief in the power of recovery, the importance of compassion, and the value of community. With continued support, Open Haven’s case workers will remain a lifeline for women seeking safety, healing, and a new beginnings.
